Michael, a graduate of Bridgewater College and a Certified Public Accountant, brings over 20 years of experience in advising small businesses and their owners. He offers a broad range of accounting, tax, and business consulting services. Throughout his career in public accounting, Michael has dedicated two decades to helping small businesses and individuals navigate complex tax and accounting issues. As the firm’s leader, he supports the team in delivering customer-focused services. Outside the office, Michael is the Assistant Coach for the Culpeper County High School boys varsity basketball team. He also enjoys participating in amateur road racing and is the owner of Swish Motorsports, swishmotorsports.com.

Susan Martin joined our firm in 2011 as a bookkeeper and client liaison. Over her time with us, she has become our client service specialist and is responsible for customer relations as well as supports our payroll, bookkeeping and write-up services. Susan has a degree in accounting. She and her husband live on the Crystal Coast of North Carolina, Emerald Isle, and outside of work, enjoys weight training, bike riding, fishing, and playing on the beach with her golden retriever, Grady.

Caitlyn Sullivan is an administrator at Mills Dayton & Company. She has a degree in business administration with a focus in accounting. Over her years with Mills Dayton, she has held various roles for the firm from bookkeeping to tech specialist and is currently an administrative Swiss Army knife in the background, working within applications, setups, and providing technical support to staff and clients. If you have a question, she’s your go-to. Outside of firm projects, Caitlyn enjoys her time with her 5 young daughters, gardening, baking, and caring for her array of livestock and pets.

Katie Taylor is an experienced accountant at MDC, with a background in financial analysis and bookkeeping. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from the University of Colorado. Katie has five years of experience performing financial analysis for the Air Force as a civilian, followed by a decade of providing bookkeeping services to a diverse clientele across various industries. Based in Colorado, she works remotely for MDC. Outside of her professional endeavors, Katie enjoys quality time with her husband and two children, immersing herself in a good book, and exploring her love for painting.

Laura Hawkins, Esq, is a Tax Consultant at Mills, Dayton & Company, P.C.. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from San Diego State University, a J.D. from Washington and Lee School of Law, and two LL.M. degrees in both Taxation and Estate Planning from Golden Gate University School of Law. With over 10 years of experience in the tax field, Laura has developed a deep expertise in tax planning and compliance, serving a diverse range of clients across the United States and abroad. Through her legal background, Laura brings an acute perspective to tax matters and is an expert communicator with the IRS and various tax authorities. Laura is a member of the California State Bar and an Enrolled Agent with the IRS. Outside of work, Laura enjoys writing, reading, and stand-up comedy.

Karen Fleming is a staff accountant at Mills, Dayton & Company P.C. She holds a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Accounting from University of Central Oklahoma, an honors graduate with over 17 years experience in public, private and cloud accounting. Her skills were developed working with clients spanning a large variety of industries, from start-up to reputable corporations, both here in the US and globally. Karen’s professional passion is in forensic accounting and the development of international standards. Karen lives out on the rural plains of Oklahoma with her Chow Chows, cats and many other four-legged creatures. She enjoys spending time in the great outdoors and loves to show off her culinary skills.
